If you are shopping for a 2024 Jeep Cherokee, you have probably realized that this model is not on the Jeep catalog for the upcoming model-year. What happened? Will it be back? What are the other 2024 SUVs that will be available in dealership?
Des Sources Chrysler representatives tell you more about the Jeep Cherokee and about the other 2024 SUVs you will find in dealership!
R.I.P. Jeep Cherokee… Really?
After almost 5 decades of good and faithful service ‒other than a brief interruption between 2002 and 2013 where the Cherokee was rebaptized the Liberty-, Stellantis pulled the plug on one of its emblematic SUVs.
For the 2023 model-year, the Jeep Cherokee was already only available in 2 trim levels ‒ the Altitude and the Trailhawk-, compared to 5 for 2022. The V6 engine had even been dropped, with only the choice between two 4- cylinder powertrains, producing 180 and 270 horsepower respectively.
But has Jeep decided to remove the Cherokee definitively? Yes… and no: “We will announce the next generation of the Jeep Cherokee when the time is right. All current Jeep vehicles will be available in an electric version by 2025 and we will be offering four vehicles”, according to what one of the manufacturer’s spokespersons said in spring of 2023.
Will the Jeep Cherokee be back as a fully electric SUV? Nothing has been revealed yet by the manufacturer, but chances are that Stellantis will not allow one of its most popular models to just simply disappear!
While we are waiting to find out more about what will happen with the Cherokee, other Jeep SUVs that are just as skilled and versatile as the late Cherokee will still be offered by Stellantis. Here are just a few; it will be up to you to see which one is best suited to your needs!
Jeep Compass
In a price range between $ 41,540 and $ 49,410, the 2024 Jeep Compass is available in 6 trim levels: the Sport, North, Altitude, Trailhawk, Limited and Trailhawk Elite.
But regardless of the selected trim, you will have access to a high-performance 2.0 L 4- cylinder engine that produces 200 horsepower/ 221 lb-ft. maximum torque, coupled with an 8- speed automatic transmission and a 4×4 system. When driving in Auto mode, this system will allow the rear axle to move automatically from 4×4 mode to front-wheel drive when the 4-wheel drive is not required, allowing you to save money on fuel. And should you opt for the Trailhawk trim, you will be taking advantage of a Trail Rated certified Jeep SUV, which means that you will have access to exceptional off-road performance.
Finally, the Compass will allow you to tow up to 2,000 pounds (907 kg) and provides you with a generous amount of cargo space of between 770 and 1,693 L, depending on if rear seats are folded down or not.
2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee
Larger than the Cherokee, the Grand Cherokee is the model that will allow you to combine elegance, a rugged build, versatility and 4×4 capabilities in just one vehicle!
For 2024, the following trims are offered:
- Laredo: $ 57,982
- Altitude: $ 61,337
- Limited: $ 62,104
- Overland: $ 69,269
- Summit: $ 74,804
- Summit Reserve: $ 79,004
It is equipped with a standard offered 3.6 L V6 engine with 293 horsepower/260 lb-ft. max. torque; a 5.7 L V8 with 357 horsepower/390 lb-ft. max. torque is also offered as an option.
On top of offering solid 4×4 capabilities, the Grand Cherokee will allow you to tow between 6,200 and 7,200 pounds, depending on the powertrain. Moreover, cargo space is very generous and varies between 1,068 and 2,005 L.
Do you need more space? The 3- row Grand Cherokee L will not only allow you to welcome more passengers, but also to take advantage of a maximum of 2,395 liters in cargo space.
Are you looking for an SUV that is more fuel efficient? The Grand Cherokee also comes in plug-in hybrid trims that offer an impressive energy efficiency of only 4.2 Le/100 km. It can also tow up to 6,000 pounds and produces a net 375 horsepower, on top of allowing you to drive around forty kilometres in fully electric mode.
And Many More Models!
The Jeep family also includes other SUVs that are even more focused on off-road driving, including the Wrangler and Wrangler 4xe, which are offered in many different trim levels. There are also high-end models like the Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer and a pickup truck, the Gladiator.
With all of the upcoming news announced by the manufacturer in regard to electric models, there is no doubt that we can expect exciting surprises for Jeep vehicles over the course of the next few years.
